You can easily re-enable this by going into the settings and enabling Tap-to-click. Also, this is only included in the development channel updates, not the beta updates. Did you notice a new logo on your Chrome "Bag" in the new tab page? I heard rumors that CR-48 users are seeing a new logo on their Chrome Web Store Icons that look just like the recently revealed Chromium logos, except for the fact that they have color.
